From the Watson project, we have a few questions for you…
Are you working on an innovative solution that strengthens traceability and transparency in food supply chains?
Have you implemented a methodology or technology that makes it easier to verify the origin and authenticity of food products?
Would you like to share your knowledge with a growing network of experts and stakeholders in Europe and beyond?
Then we want to hear from you!
Why this matters
Watson is developing advanced tools to help food safety authorities detect and prevent food fraud more effectively.
As part of this effort, we are building a database of best practices to identify successful approaches that could complement and strengthen the Watson Use Cases.
To do this, we are combining desk research with a Survey of Best Practices, and your input is essential!
What we are looking for
We are searching for practical, proven and forward-thinking examples that have demonstrated results in the field of food traceability and verification. This could include:
Technologies (e.g., blockchain, DNA analysis, IoT devices)
Methods and processes (e.g., auditing systems, chain-of-custody protocols)
Standards and certifications
Public or private initiatives with a measurable impact
To qualify as a best practice, your example should:
Be applicable to the food industry
Be innovative, effective and ethical
Be scalable and potentially replicable in other contexts
Have been developed or implemented between 2020 and 2025
How sharing your knowledge will benefit you
By contributing to the Watson Survey of Best Practices, you can:
Showcase your work to a broad network of stakeholders
Help identify synergies with Watson’s Use Cases
Contribute to shaping the future of traceability systems in the EU food sector
Do not miss the deadline!
Submit your example by 4 July 2025 and become part of the collective effort to build smarter, safer, and more transparent food systems.
