Practice Abstracts

What is a Practice Abstract?

Practice Abstracts (PAs) are short, structured knowledge outputs designed to bridge the gap between research and practice. They translate project results into clear, practical messages that can be easily understood and applied by practitioners. Their main objective is to make research outcomes directly usable by farmers, food business operators, advisors, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders.

Following the EIP-AGRI common format, PAs focus on presenting what was achieved, why it matters, and how it can be used in practice.

Within the Watson project, PAs highlight innovative solutions, methodologies, tools and services developed to strengthen food supply chain transparency, traceability and authenticity.

Rather than presenting technical detail, the aim is to provide concise, actionable information that supports informed decision-making and encourages the uptake of innovative approaches in the agri-food sector.

A total of 34 PAs were developed by Watson and compiled in two dedicated project deliverables. While these deliverables themselves are not publicly accessible, all 34 PAs are available here on this page for easy browsing, and are organised under 7 topics, so you can easily explore the insights relevant to each area.

Watson’s PAs are hosted on the EU CAP Network platform, where they contribute to the wider European knowledge exchange community and support the uptake of innovative solutions across the agri-food sector.

The EU CAP Network connects farmers, advisors, researchers, managing authorities and innovation actors across Europe, facilitating knowledge exchange and the dissemination of project results. Through this mechanism, our results remain accessible beyond the project’s lifetime, supporting continued knowledge transfer and practical implementation.
