The WATSON project was featured at the 5th Verde.tec Forum, held from March 17th-19th, 2023, at the M.E.C. Exhibition Center in Paiania, Athens.
Thanos Karvounis, Innovation Grant Application Expert at Smart Agro Hub, represented WATSON at this prestigious international exhibition, which focuses on environmental technology and sustainable practices.
Digital transition in Greek agriculture
Karvounis delivered a compelling presentation titled “The Contribution of the Smart Agro Hub Competence Center to the Digital Transition of Greek Agriculture”. His talk highlighted the pivotal role of WATSON in identifying and preventing the spread of fraudulent practices within the food supply chain.
These key insights were shared during the “21st Century Agriculture in Greece: Precision Agriculture, Digitization & Green Sustainability” panel, organised by the Agricultural University of Athens.
The top meeting point for environmental technologies, circular economy and smart cities
The 5th Verde.tec Forum has established itself as a key event in the environmental sector since its inception in 2017. This year’s edition promised to build on past successes, attracting previous exhibitors and welcoming major new participants, thereby enhancing the overall quality of the event.
Preparations for the Verde.tec Forum included an extensive programme of conferences, seminars and workshops. This three-day forum facilitated fruitful dialogue among the state, institutions, universities and companies from Greece and abroad.
Attendance at the conference was expected to surpass previous records, with over 220 speakers and 32 workshops.
WATSON‘s involvement in the 5th Verde.tec Forum underscores our commitment to integrating digital and intelligence-based technologies to enhance traceability and prevent food fraud. The event provided a platform for networking, knowledge exchange and showcasing WATSON’s expected contributions to sustainable agriculture.
