On December 6th, 2023, Smart Agro Hub showcased the WATSON project at the “Modern Trends in Food Science and Human Nutrition” conference.
The event was co-organised by the PSEK Region of Western Greece, SEVT – Federation of Hellenic Food Industries, and the Greek Technology Platform “Food for Life”, and held at the conference centre of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) in Patras (Greece).
About the conference
The primary focus of the event was to present the latest trends in food science, strategic axes, perspectives, actions and synergies that are being developed around research and innovation, at both regional and national levels. The aim was to explore the evolution of the agri-food sector.
Notable representatives from the public sector, academia, research fields and industry participated in the event.
The conference was divided into four key sections:
- The Branch of Agri-Food in the modern environment
- Research & Innovation: Pillars of development of the Agri-Food Sector
- Modern Trends in Food Science & Human Nutrition
- Successful examples of business collaborations with research institutions
Our contribution to the conference
Dr. Thomas Bartzanas, President of the Board of Directors at Smart Agro Hub and Vice-Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens, presented WATSON, highlighting its objectives, current progress and expected outcomes. The presentation focused on how our project contributes to addressing challenges in the food sector through innovative research and technology.
During the event, Smart Agro Hub representatives met with SEVT members and researchers to discuss the current challenges and opportunities in the food sector. These discussions provided valuable insights and potential collaboration opportunities to further enhance the impact of the WATSON project.
This conference provided an excellent platform for Smart Agro Hub to showcase the WATSON project and engage with key stakeholders in the Greek agri-food sector.
