Watson workshop turns cross-pilot experience into a shared technological vision

WATSON

At the end of 2025, Watson brought together its key technology partners for a dedicated Lessons Learnt Workshop – Technological Perspective Across Pilots, hosted by reframe.food.

The workshop marked an important moment for collective reflection, as our project is transitioning from large-scale pilot implementation toward consolidation and long-term impact.

Rather than analysing each pilot in isolation, the session focused on how different technological components interact across use cases.

Discussions centred on alignment, interoperability and the practical realities of deploying Watson solutions in diverse real-life environments.

A space for honest reflection

The workshop created a structured but open space for technical dialogue, allowing partners to share implementation experiences, challenges encountered and insights gained throughout the Watson pilots.

Contributions from University College Dublin, Synelixis, UBITECH, Netcompany, Wellics and the National Technical University of Athens highlighted both common patterns and context-specific needs across pilots.

This exchange helped identify where technological approaches converge, where adaptations are required and how synergies can be further strengthened within the Watson framework.

Strengthening interoperability across use cases

A key outcome of the workshop was the consolidation of cross-pilot technical lessons. By examining how different components perform and integrate across contexts, partners were able to:

  • Refine interfaces and data flows between platform components.
  • Strengthen interoperability across pilot configurations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve scalability and robustness.
  • Align future development priorities across partners.

These discussions directly support Watson’s ambition to function as a coherent, flexible and scalable platform, capable of responding to the needs of diverse agri-food supply chains.

From pilots to lasting impact

As the Watson project enters its final phase, the focus in 2026 shifts toward capitalising on the knowledge generated across pilots.

This workshop represents a key step in this process, reinforcing collaboration across partners and helping transform distributed pilot experience into a unified, future-ready solution.
